International Research Conference „Bulgaria and the Nordic Countries – Intersections and Perspectives“, 17 – 18 November 2022

The International Research Conference “Bulgaria and the Nordic Countries – Intersections and Perspectives” on 17 – 18 November 2022 marked the 30-year anniversary of the establishment of the Scandinavian Studies Section at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.

The conference participants include experts in linguistics, literary studies, translation, culture history and other areas from Bulgaria and the Nordic countries, including Tomas Riad (Stockholm University, Sweden), Lars Lönnroth (Gothenburg University, Sweden), Marta Kirilova (University of Copenhagen, Denmark), Kristin Melum Eide (University of Trondheim, Norway), Henning Wærp (University of Tromsø, Norway), Lisbeth Wærp (University of Tromsø, Norway) and others.

The ambassadors of the Nordic countries in Bulgaria were guests at the conference and His Excellency Jes Brogaard Nielsen, ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in Bulgaria, opened the conference with a lecture on the subject “The Nordic Countries – A Culture of Trust”.

The conference opened on 17 November 2022 г. at 9.45 in Hall 1 of the Rectorate building of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. The working language of the conference was English.
