Nadezhda Mihaylova holds a PhD in History of Nordic literature (since 2007) and is a lecturer at the Specialty of Scandinavian Studies at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski since 2000 (since 2002 – as a faculty member). At the Bachelor’s programme she delivers lectures in History of Nordic literature in the following disciplines: “Old Norse literature and mythology”, “Middle Ages”, “Reformation, Enlightenment, Preromanticism”, “From Andersen to Hamsun” and “20th century” (Swedish and Danish literature), as well as “Denmark – history, culture, political, economic and social conditions”. She also leads an optional course “Fantastic and real”, dedicated to H. C. Andersen’s and Karen Blixen’s works.
At the Master’s programme “Nordic studies” she teaches the optional courses “Scandinavian Aestheticism” and “Old-Norse mythology” as well as “From the sagas to our times” at the Master’s Programme “Language, culture, translation. She has specialized at the Copenhagen University, Denmark, in 2002 and 2009. Her main fields of scientific interests are history of Swedish, Danish and Old Norse literature, reception of Danish and Swedish literature in Bulgaria, and comparative literature. She is currently carrying out a research on the interpretation of Old Norse characters and motifs in the Danish literature during the first half of the 19th century.
